Programs and fans across the country have been waiting and watching to see what moves the Pac-12 will make when it comes time for expansion. The conference recently issued a statement expressing solidarity among the remaining 10 schools, which hints that both a media rights deal and expansion could happen soon.

We don't know for certain what number the conference is hoping to hit, whether it be to get back to 12, or to keep up with the other Power 5 programs and reach that 14 mark. What we do know, is that there are two clear cut favorites to join the conference in San Diego State and SMU.

On Thursday we also learned from Pac-12 insider John Canzano that a program who many people have been throwing around as a possible candidate in Boise State, is not really in contention at this time.

While the Broncos have been one of the most successful Group of 5 teams in the country throughout the years, the conference is clearly focused on bringing in much larger markets

The last part of Canzano's report also hints at the fact that the conference may be eyeing more than just two schools. This means programs such as UNLV, Tulane, and Fresno State among others could be in the mix.
