BREAKING: Former Stanford Tight End Benjamin Yurosek Transfers To Georgia
Unlike last season, the transfer portal didn't raid Stanford's roster nearly as much.
Rather than losing around 15 starters, the Cardinal ended up losing just a couple after this season. However, the one that may have hurt the most was tight end Benjamin Yurosek. Unfortunately for him, Troy Taylor's offense would have been a perfect way to showcase him, but Stanford's offensive line was so ineffective that he wasn't featured nearly as much as most thought he'd be. He was also sidelined for the final few weeks of the season with a shoulder injury.
He opted to transfer for his final year, and on Friday it was revealed that he would be heading to the SEC and transferring to Georgia.
When talking to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Yurosek revealed why Georgia stood out to him.
"Obviously Georgia has the best of both worlds," Yurosek said. "They have big-time football and the use of tight ends."
Yurosek departs Stanford with 108 catches for 1,342 yards and five touchdowns while being named to a All-Pac-12 team twice. He will be the perfect replacement for Brock Bowers, who Georgia featured heavily the past couple of seasons. Yurosek will also get a chance to compete for a title, as the Bulldogs are one of the favorites to win it all.
