Former Stanford star Christian McCaffrey has officially etched his way into the NFL record book.

In the San Francisco 49ers' 22-17 Monday Night Football loss to the Minnesota Vikings, McCaffrey powered in a three-yard score in the second quarter. Not only did the touchdown cut the lead to single digits at that time, but it also broke the all-time record for touchdowns in consecutive games. McCaffrey has now scored a touchdown in 16 straight games (including playoffs).

McCaffrey finished the game with 45 yards rushing and the score, while also adding three catches for 51 yards and a receiving touchdown as well. With the loss, the 49ers now fall to 5-2 on the year, and have lost their last two games to teams that they were favored to beat.

As for McCaffrey, he is still widely viewed as a candidate for the NFL MVP award, but will need to continue to string together monster performances in order to stay in the hunt.
