In their Sunday loss to the Cleveland Browns, which marked their first of the season, the San Francisco 49ers also happened to lose a few star players due to injury.

One of those players was a former Stanford star and MVP frontrunner, running back Christian McCaffrey. In the third quarter of the loss, McCaffrey came off the field and later returned for a play before he was again sidelined and taken to the locker room.

The injury was later revealed to be an oblique/rib injury, and while head coach Kyle Shanahan was not yet sure earlier in the week if he would play in their next game, ESPN's Adam Schefter did confirm on Wednesday that McCaffrey does have a chance to return against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday.

Through six games, McCaffrey has rushed for 553 yards on a career-high five yards per carry, while already having seven rushing touchdowns which is his most since 2019. He also has added two receiving touchdowns this season, all while continually extending his record for consecutive games with a touchdown.
