Four Stanford Cardinal receive NFL Combine invites
From February 28 through March 6, NFL Draft hopefuls will be competing in speed, strength, and positional drills in front of NFL scouts, coaches, and general managers at the NFL Combine.
Not just anyone gets to show up, as players must be invited. Four of the Stanford Cardinal players that declared for the NFL Draft following this past season received invites, and will have a chance to showcase their skillsets. While the combine isn't make or break for someone to get drafted, it does really help for players to get in front of a ton of NFL personnel, because all it takes is for one team to fall in love with your skillet.
Let's take a look at the Stanford players that received an invite!
Elijah Higgins, WR
2022 Stats: 59 Catches, 704 yards, 2 TD's
The big bodied receiver who also happens to have elite speed could greatly benefit from a strong combine showing. He had a fairly quiet Senior Bowl week, and could use the NFL Combine to show off his speed and maybe even get some work with the tight ends as that has been a rumor swirling around.
Kyu Blu Kelly, CB
2022 Stats: 35 total tackles and 6 Pass Deflections
After starting the season as a potential first round pick, Kyu Blu Kelly did not have the year that he would have hoped. He does however have enough positive film throughout his career, and a strong showing at the Senior Bowl to help raise his stock in Indianapolis.
Tanner McKee, QB
2022 Stats: 2,947 yards passing, 62% completion, 13 TD's, 8 Ints
Since he declared as a junior, Tanner McKee did not get to partake in any sort of All-Star games, so if he does choose to participate at the combine it could help him get back in the front of teams' minds. He has the size and everything NFL teams want as a quarterback, but doesn't have the production to match. Quarterbacks at the combine are always an interesting case, because sometimes they don't want to throw and just be measured.
Michael Wilson, WR
2022 Stats: 26 Catches, 418 yards, 4 TD's
Wilson had his season cut short due to injury, which had been a recurring theme throughout his college career. However, he had the best Senior Bowl week one could have, even being named the MVP by some people. Defenders couldn't stay with him, and he made a ton of tough grabs that certainly boosted his stock.
