Stanford's new head coach Troy Taylor finished his first season in Palo Alto, and the team that was one of the least experienced in the country looked the part at times as they finished 3-9.

There were certainly improvements made, but the team is still a long way away from returning to conference and title contenders. Even with an impressive recruiting class and experience under their belts, oddsmakers are still doubtful that Stanford will be contending for much of anything in 2024.

FanDuel recently released their win total projection odds for the entire ACC, which will see Stanford, Cal, and SMU will be joining in 2024. The Cardinal had the lowest win projection total in the entire conference.

Stanford's win total was the only one set at 3.5, with programs like Wake Forest, Virginia, and Boston College all being at 4.5. In order to really surpass that mark, Stanford will need better offensive line play, better run defense, and more consistent quarterback play.

As long as the offensive line improves, the offense as a whole should improve. Taylor is a savant when it comes to calling plays, but this past season the team's issues across the offensive line limited his play-calling. The team had to rely heavily on a passing attack that was inexperienced because they couldn't utilize the run game, and even the passing game was limited due to the fact tight ends and running backs were needed to block.

Stanford's season will start on August 30 against TCU.
