Richard Sherman Believes Football Is Being Ruined
A popular talking point in football, specifically around the NFL is the impact that officiating has on games.
There were a couple of critical calls in this past weekend's meeting between the Indianapolis Colts and the Cleveland Browns that may or may not have directly impacted the outcome. This has led many fans, players, and analysts alike to call for refs to be held accountable for their mistakes and wrongdoings.
Former Stanford and NFL star Richard Sherman even went as far as to say that it is ruining football due to the fact that it is impacting the outcomes of games far too much on Monday's episode of Undisputed.
The officiating has fans again suspecting the NFL of being rigged, and there is an easy solution at hand but the NFL would need to swallow its pride. On top of considering punishment for the officials, an even easier solution for the NFL is to make every play reviewable. Obviously, no one wants to watch a replay fest, but fans similar to Sherman also don't want to see a game determined by a poor call.
The NFL has had this problem for years and hasn't really shown efforts to fix it aside from allowing pass interference to be challenged, which even before they quietly got rid of it, didn't help matters as calls were still missed. However, with the large outcry, the league may finally attempt to figure something out to not only appease the fans, but to better their own product in the future.
