Troy Taylor and Stanford are looking to build some momentum on the recruiting trail, and they may be headed in the right direction when it comes to finding the next great Stanford quarterback.

According to On3, Stanford is the clearcut favorite for four-star quarterback and product of football powerhouse Mater Dei, Elijah Brown. The Cardinal are in the midst of looking for a replacement for NFL bound Tanner McKee, and while Ari Patu and Ashton Daniels are the only quarterbacks on campus right now, they may be eventually pushed by incoming Myles Jackson or Brown.

According to On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine, Stanford has a 93.2% chance at landing Brown, following two recruiting experts both inserting predictions in favor of Stanford. Earlier in the month it was Arizona State who was the leader for Brown, but following a recent visit it appears the Cardinal are trending.

Brown has proven to be the next great Mater Dei quarterback compiling an impressive 29-1 record as the starter, with his lone loss coming in the Southern Section Division 1 championship football game against St. John John Bosco this past season.

On3 ranks him as the No. 63 player in the nation, while 247Sports ranks him as the No. 33 player in the country. Here is the evaluation of what Brown brings to the table according to 247Sports' Greg Biggins:

Brown plays with a poise and maturity rarely seen at the HS level. He has started every game since his freshman season and has never looked overwhelmed while playing against top level competition. He's a very accurate thrower and will stand in the pocket as long as possible to get a throw off. He's one of the better deep ball throwers as well and has a really natural feel for throwing on time and throwing players open. He doesn't run much but is a good athlete and does a nice job making that initial pass rusher miss and extending a play. His arm strength has improved over the last year and he's added good weight to his body and looks much stronger. He's a clutch player and the guy you want leading your team late in a game and the moment is never too big for him.

His great arm talent and ability to run are the perfect combination for Troy Taylor's fast paced offense that he is implementing.
