Stanford Offers Harvard All-Ivy League DT Transfer, Thor Griffith
One of the biggest misconceptions about Stanford is that they cannot use the transfer portal, when in fact they can, just not as much as other programs.
Heading into his first season on the job, Troy Taylor landed offensive linemen Alec Bank (Harvard) and Trevor Mayberry (Penn), linebackers Spencer Lytle (Wisconsin) and Gaethan Bernadel (FIU), running back Ryan Butler (Princeton), and quarterback Justin Lamson (Syracuse). They also did at one point land running back Justin Williams-Thomas from Tennessee, but he ended up flipping to Cal. So, while they won't be bringing in 20-person portal classes, they can get some help.
What is believed to be their first offer of this transfer class, they went the experienced Ivy League route again as they offered defensive tackle Thor Griffith. In his Harvard career, Griffith had 33.5 TFLs and 13.5 sacks to go with 132 tackles in 30 games played.
Griffith was named to The Athletic's preseason college football freaks list due to his combination of speed and strength, as he reportedly ran a 4.95 40-yard dash and has bench-pressed 225 pounds 45 times.
He is reportedly targeting either Michigan or Ohio State, but based on his social media has received offers from Houston, App State, and Louisville. The New Hampshire native has one year of eligibility remaining for wherever he transfers.
If Stanford were to land him, they'd be getting a veteran who has the size and strength to help generate pressure on the quarterback, but more importantly, limit offenses from running the ball as successfully.
