On Wednesday, it was revealed that Stanford is seeking out some transfer portal help for what was a struggling and young offensive line.

The Cardinal sent out an offer to New Mexico to transfer Shancco Matautia, who started at right guard for the Lobos. Standing in at 6-foot-2 and 346 pounds, Matautia provides a massive body that has shown to be quite effective in the passing game.

According to PFF, he had a pass-blocking grade of 72.3, a run-blocking grade of 57.7, and an overall grade of 59.2.

However, to put into perspective how much Stanford's line struggled, he graded out better than every guard that Stanford fielded that met the snap minimum to be graded. In 2024, to take that next step, the Cardinal need to not only protect the quarterback better as they allowed 41 sacks, but they also need help establishing the run game which was pretty much nonexistent this season.

As a recruit, Matautia was ranked as a three-star out of Servite which is located in Anaheim, California.

Adding him to the mix provides more depth for this struggling unit, and may also end up being a starter for Stanford in 2024.
