Stanford Transfer Jaxson Moi Has Washington Visit Spoiled By Kalen DeBoer Departure
The college football coaching carousel was thought to have been done spinning prior to this week, but a couple of days ago Alabama head coach Nick Saban felt it was time to retire from coaching.
The seven-time champ revealed that this past season took a toll on him mentally, and also revealed that it was becoming a major concern from recruits in regards to how long he'd be there. In an interview with Pat McAfee, Saban revealed his thought process when people asked the 72-year-old about how long he'd coach.

“Look, I ask everybody that asks me that question, ‘Are you going to be here for four years?’” Saban said. “Some players ask me when you’re going to retire, I’ve looked at them and say, ‘Well can you guarantee me that you’re going to be here for four years?’ and they looked at me like ‘Hell no I’m not.’”
Saban's heir was revealed on Friday, as the Crimson Tide ended up luring away Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer to replace the legendary coach. The decision for DeBoer clearly wasn't an easy one as he reportedly met with the Washington AD this morning with Washington having hopes of a deal being agreed upon. However, DeBoer accepted the Alabama position later in the day, which was a move that had repercussions that affected Stanford defensive line transfer Jaxson Moi.
According to 247Sports' Greg Biggins, Moi had just checked into his hotel when the news that DeBoer had taken the Alabama job had become public. Moi entered the portal after two seasons in Palo Alto that saw him record 37 total tackles, 11 solo tackles, three pass deflections, and also added a sack. Aside from Washington, Moi reportedly visited Arizona early in the month with the expectation that he'd choose between them.
