Stanford's Beloved Kicker Josh Karty Declares For NFL Draft

Josh Karty has been as automatic as they come for Stanford

While Stanford's offense hasn't been as prolific as it once was, their best offensive strategy was simply getting past the 50-yard line to set up kicker Josh Karty.

The North Carolina native was the starting kicker for the Cardinal for three years, and on Friday he revealed that he will be declaring for the NFL Draft after a decorated career. He was named Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week five times during his career, was named to a Pac-12 All-Conference team each year, and walked away with a long of 56 yards.

For his career, Karty made 85% of his field goal tries and missed just one extra point in three years. His junior season saw him make all 18 of his kicks, and finish as a Lou Garza finalist.

The Cardinal have quite a few position battles to settle for 2024, but one that may be more prevalent than most people realize at kicker, where they will have to replace the program legend.
