Stanford's Huge Victory Left Deion Sanders 'Truly Disturbed' and Questioning Colorado's Love For Football
As one could imagine, Colorado's head coach Deion Sanders wasn't thrilled following his team's loss against Stanford.
On top of being heavily favored, the Buffaloes scored 29 unanswered points in the first half and looked well on their way to a second straight victory and their fifth win of the season. What they and college football fans everywhere weren't expecting was for Stanford to explode in the second half for 26 unanswered points of their own, while holding Colorado to just one score in the second half.
A strong performance by quarterback Ashton Daniels and a career day from receiver Elic Ayomanor paved the way for the largest comeback in Stanford's history, and the 46-43 victory. It also left Sanders pretty shaken up after the game, as he revealed to the media he was disturbed.
"Hats off to our opposition today," said Sanders. "I am truly upset, truly disturbed. Started off the game wonderfully, finally put it together in the first half. You surrender three touchdowns unanswered, I can’t fathom it right now. I felt complacency going into the half. I just didn’t like how I felt going in at half-time.”
The loss ahead of their bye also has Sanders questioning if his team truly loves football.
"They gotta make up in their mind are they in love with this game or in like with it, asked Sanders. "I'm truly 100% in love with this thing and I just want people to match me."
For Stanford, the win ends their four-game losing streak and gives Troy Taylor his first Pac-12 victory. For Colorado, they have now lost three of their last four games, and have meetings with No. 18 UCLA, No. 15 Oregon State, No. 19 Washington State, and No. 16 Utah on the horizon.
