Tanner McKee shines in Philadelphia Eagles preseason debut
Prior to this past season Tanner McKee was viewed as a potential first rounder, but a less than stellar season thanks to a lackluster system and a roster plagued with injury derailed those discussions.
Instead, McKee ended up hearing his name called in the sixth round of the draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. A team with a star at quarterback in Jalen Hurts, and a team that signed journeyman Marcus Mariota to back up hurts. However, McKee still has a chance to earn a roster spot or at the very minimum get on the radar of another team.
On Saturday, McKee made his NFL preseason debut against the Ravens and had a strong showing. In an article by The Athletic, he was described as "off the chain" and according to By Bo Wulf and Zach Berman "dazzled".
On the other hand, the sixth-round rookie McKee was very much not the same player we have seen most of the summer. Throughout training camp, he has primarily thrown the ball within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Those throws have mostly been accurate and timely but also unexciting. On Saturday night, he dazzled.
They raved about his decisiveness and his willingness to push the ball down the field. McKee finished the game 10-of-20 for 148 yards on 7.4 yards per attempt. Here is one of his throws that has been making its rounds on social media.
