UCLA's Chip Kelly Wishes Pac-12 Stuck Together, 'Sad' To Play Stanford For Final Time
While we are focused on the on-field product this college football season, there is a dark cloud looming over the sport which is the end of the Pac-12 as we know it.
The conference out West is slated to no longer exist in its current state, with 10 programs leaving to join another conference for the 2024 season. One of the two teams that got the ball rolling on its death was No. 25 UCLA, who Stanford is slated to play this weekend after a massive win over Deion Sanders and Colorado.
Head coach Chip Kelly recently spoke to the media ahead of the meeting and while he was addressing the Bruins' previous game against Oregon State, and looking ahead to this week's matchup, he also touched on how disappointing it is that this will be the final meeting between the two teams as conference foes.
“It’s all sad. I have feelings on the whole thing," said Kelly. "I think that we should all still be together. Some people should be able to work that out. Let’s criticize them. Let’s not criticize the high school athletes. Let’s criticize the people that are making really good money that have put us in this situation.”
The Bruins are slated to join the Big Ten next season, while Stanford will be headed to the ACC.
