UNC Women's Soccer coach: I want Cal and Stanford to die on the vine
The ACC was scheduled to meet earlier on Tuesday to discuss the additions of Stanford, Cal, and maybe even SMU but the meeting was called off.
A sign that clearly indicated that they don't have the votes necessary. However, while there appeared to be confidence that Stanford and Cal could change the minds of at least one of the four opposed schools, North Carolina Women's Soccer coach Anson Dorrance recently spoke against them joining the conference with WRAL.com.
Dorracne, who has been the coach at North Carolina for nearly 50 years, explained that while Stanford and Cal would both be great athletic and academic additions, it would be better for recruiting and travel if they didn't join. Going as far to say he wants them to "die on the vine".
Dorrance is one of the most accomplished coaches in all of college sports, as he's the all-time leader in total Division I NCAA championships in any sport, and is tied for second across all NCAA divisions in all-time titles with 21. To see his full statement check it out here.
