Dalton Schultz to sign with Houston Texans
After reports that the Dallas Cowboys opted to not meet with tight end Dalton Schultz, the former Cardinal hit the open market and found a new home.
While he won't be playing in Dallas following a year on the franchise tag, he will be staying in the Lone Star State for his next stint as he and the Houston Texans agreed to a one-year deal worth $9 million.
Schultz is fresh off of back-to-back seasons with over 55 catches, over 500 yards receiving, and at least five touchdowns. In 15 games this past season he grabbed 57 catches for 577 yards, and five touchdowns.
The 26-year old was a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of Stanford, and burst onto the scene in 2020 when he caught 63 passes for 615 yards and four touchdowns. He then followed that up with 78 catches, 808 yards receiving, and eight touchdown season the next year.
The Texans currently have the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft are expected to take one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class whether it be Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, or Will Levis. It is unknown which direction they plan to go, but we do know that former Cardinal, Davis Mills, will also be in the quarterback room.
