Former Stanford Star Christian McCaffrey Named A Finalists For Offensive Player of the Year
Former Stanford Star running back Christian McCaffrey has emerged as one of the best players in the NFL, as he and the San Francisco 49ers are just two more wins away from a Super Bowl title.
On top of winning the NFL rushing title and being in the MVP conversation all year, McCaffrey was recently named as one of the five finalists for NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Joining him as finalists were Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, and a pair of Dallas Cowboys in receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott.
He led the league with 1,459 rushing yards, while totaling 14 touchdowns on the ground, and another seven in the passing game to go with his 564 yards. McCaffrey and the 49ers will be taking on the newly signed Zach Ertz and the Detroit Lions on Sunday in the NFC Championship.
If he were to win the award, he'd be the first 49er to do so since Jerry Rice won it in 1993, a year after his quarterback Steve Young had won the award in 1992.
