Former Stanford Star Christian McCaffrey's Two Touchdowns Lift San Francisco To The NFC Championship

Former Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey had two clutch touchdowns in the San Francisco 49ers' win over the Green Bay Packers

The San Francisco 49ers found themselves in a back-and-forth matchup with the Green Bay Packers with a trip to the NFC Championship on the line.

While the game wasn't always the prettiest thanks to the torrential downpour, and players slipping all over the place, the 49ers turned to the Stanford star when they needed him most. Running back Christian McCaffrey finished the game with 98 rushing yards and two clutch touchdowns, and also hauled in a team-high seven catches.

With the Packers looking like they were in control of the game after scoring a touchdown in the third quarter to make it 13-7, San Francisco charged down the field to answer. With the ball at the 39-yard line, they turned and tossed it off to McCaffrey who exploded through the hole, breaking one tackle and making another man miss before frolicking into the end zone. The touchdown gave them a 14-13 lead, which the Packers matched with one of their own and a two-point conversion to make it 21-14.

San Francisco would add a field goal to cut the lead to 21-17, and after a missed field goal by the Packers, it was McCaffrey time again. The 49ers drove down the field methodically in 12 plays taking around five minutes off of the clock. The drive ended with McCaffrey powering in a score from six yards out to take the 24-21 lead, which eventually became the game-winner after a Jordan Love pick.

The win ends the Packers' season, while advancing the 49ers to the NFC Championship where they will look to avenge their loss last season to the Eagles. They will be taking on the winner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Detroit Lions matchup on Sunday.
