Former Stanford star Zach Ertz signs with Washington Commanders
On Wednesday, former Stanford tight end Zach Ertz became the second former Cardinal tight end to ink a new deal ahead of the 2024 season.
Joining Dalton Schultz who re-signed with the Texans, Ertz inked a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders where he will reunite with his former head coach with the Arizona Cardinals Kliff Kingsbury. The former Cardinals and Texas Tech head coach was recently hired by the new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn to be the offensive coordinator.
According to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, Ertz's contract is worth up to $5 million.
Ertz spent the past three seasons with the Cardinals, and stayed in Arizona for seven games this past season until he went down with an injury. He ended up being released and later signed with the Detroit Lions in the playoffs, but didn't see action in their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers.
