On Saturday, 26-year-old Katie Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle at the world championships in Japan.

This victory was significant for a multitude of reasons as she not only became the first swimmer to win six gold medals in the same event at worlds, but it also marked her 16th individual world title. A number that lifts her past Michael Phelps for the most golds at worlds.

Ledecky finished the world championships in Fukuoka, Japan, with quite the haul as she won two golds in 800m and 1500m frees, and two silvers in 400m free, 4x200m free relay.

She continues to prove to be one of the best athletes in all of sports.
