Tiger Woods And Nike Rumored To Be Heading Towards A Breakup
The former Stanford Cardinal and star professional golfer Tiger Woods may be parting ways with Nike, a partnership that has been in the books since 1996. However, in less than a month, it may all crumble apart.
Woods has been the face of the brand for quite a while, however, while there is no public documentation of this, Nike supposedly paid the former Cardinal hundreds of millions of dollars to be an active representation of the Nike brand since the partnership began when Woods was only 20-years old.
Woods will be playing in the PNC Championship tournament next week. However, according to the "No Laying Up" gold podcast on Monday, it may be the last time the public views Woods with the Nike logo plastered on his apparel.
In 2016, the Nike brand halted their manufacturing efforts in producing golf clubs. Because of this, Woods has utilized clubs from the brand TaylorMade.
TaylorMade also produces and sells other golf equipment and clothing items. This being said, could this be Woods' possible brand shift in the coming weeks? TaylorMade does not nearly have as much equipment or apparel as Nike's dominant brand, but it could be a possibility for Woods.
As far as his shoe brand, however, Woods has been spotted wearing FootJoy-branded shoes during his tournaments since making a comeback from ankle surgery around a year ago in 2022.
Will Woods officially split from the brand that he has been the face of since 1996?
Woods will most likely be answering questions related to his brand shift next week at the PNC Championship.
