On Wednesday it was reported that Tiger Woods underwent surgery to address post-traumatic arthritis in his right ankle, which was one of the injuries he suffered in a car accident in February 2021.

In a statement released from his social media account, it was confirmed that the surgery was done by Dr. Martin O'Malley at HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York, and was deemed a success.

The statement didn't mention if or when Woods will return to golf. The 15-time major champion withdrew from the Masters early this month due to what Woods said was because he aggravated a previous plantar fasciitis injury in his right foot. The very injury that had already caused him to withdraw from the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial event he hosts in the Bahamas, in February.

It was evident that Woods was hurting, as a video went viral on social media of him badly limping which led to many questioning how much the 47-year old has left in the tank.

Woods' injury issues to his right leg, foot and ankle stem from a 2021 accident in which his SUV rolled over, nearly causing surgeons to amputate his right leg according to Woods himself.
