The Stanford Cardinal are still making additions to their roster ahead of the 2024 season as on top of landing a couple of transfers they also brought in a notable walk-on.

Mater Dei wide receiver Marcus Brown, who is the teammate of four-star quarterback signee Elijah Brown, took to social media on Monday to announce his commitment to Stanford as a preferred walk-on.

According to 247Sports, Brown ranks as a three-star recruit and as the No. 286 receiver in the country. He chose Stanford over offers from programs such as Kansas, Western Kentucky, New Mexico State, and Air Force. Despite being somewhat overlooked on the recruiting trail, Brown led Mater Dei in both receiving yards and touchdowns this past season and was second on the team in catches as they went on to win the state title.

While Stanford's receiver room is headlined by both Elic Ayomanor and Tiger Bachmeier, there is a need for a third pass catcher to step up. Whether it's Mudia Reuben, Bryce Farrell, or one of the incoming freshmen Chase Farrell or Emmett Mosley, the Cardinal simply need someone to separate themselves from the pack in 2024.

It would be a big ask for Brown who may not get the most reps at first, but his rapport with Elijah Brown who is expected to contend for the starting role could help his case.
