The No. 12 Stanford Cardinal didn't start off the year as hot as they would have liked, dropping two games against No. 25 Kentucky, one against No. 7 Florida State, and another against No. 3 Texas.

They did however bounce back in a major way this past weekend at the Lone Star Invitational in Austin, Texas. They finished the weekend 5-0 after beating Louisiana 4-1, beating Colorado State 6-2, blowing out Louisiana 8-0, taking down No. 2 Texas in extras by a score of 4-3, and beating Colorado State again, this time in nine innings 3-1.

Freshman Jade Berry came up to the plate in the ninth with a runner on, and smacked a home run over the right field wall to give Stanford the win.

Stanford will return home this week, with their home opener taking place on Thursday against Boise State in the DeMarini Invitational.
