Stanford's baseball team recently learned that they secured the No. 8 national seed, and will be able to host a regional for the 21st time in program history.

They also learned who they will have to get through to advance to the Super Regionals, as the Cardinal will be hosting  two-seed Texas A&M (36-25, 14-16 SEC), three-seed Cal State Fullerton (31-22, 20-10 Big West) and four-seed San Jose State (22-28, 18-11 Mountain West). The tournament kicks off on Friday at 2 p.m. when Stanford will host San Jose State.

The Cardinal had only met up with one of these teams prior, as they actually opened the season against Cal State Fullerton, winning two out of three games.

Stanford enters the postseason after accumulating a 38-16 overall record that saw them win their second consecutive Pac-12 regular-season title after going 23-7 in the conference.

Stanford has had a lot of success when playing at Sunken Diamond as they are 78-22 in the postseason at home. They are looking to advance to what would be their third consecutive College World Series, and will be led by a slew of Pac-12 All-Conference award winners in Pac-12 Player of the Year Albert Rios, Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year Quinn Mathews, Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Malcolm Moore, and Pac-12 Coach of the Year David Esquer.
