Butler is a product of Bay Area power The Branson School and signed with Illinois back in November, but on Monday decided to ask out of his NLI.

The 6-foot-4 lefty ranks as the No. 97 player in the country according to 247Sports, and chose Illinois over programs like Colorado State, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, and Cal State Fullerton among others.
