Stanford's Cameron Brink wins 2024 Defensive and Pac-12 Player of the Year
The No. 2 Stanford Cardinal (26-4) have been firing on all cylinders this season, and a major reason for this is star forward Cameron Brink.
The 6-foot-4 senior out of Oregon is a walking double-double and also happens to be an elite defender. On Tuesday it was announced that she was awarded both the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award for the third time, and the Pac-12 Player of the Year award for the second time in her career.
As broken down by the Pac-12 Network, Brink ranks fourth in the conference in points per game (17.9), and second in rebounds (12.0), while also accumulating 16 double-doubles which is the second-most in the Pac-12. She is also the player in the country to be averaging over 15.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game according to the release.
Brink and the Cardinal have secured the No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament, and with a strong showing could be able to garner a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Joining her in winning Pac-12 honors is her running-mate Kiki Iriafen, who won the Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year. Both Brink and Iriafen were named All Pac-12 as well.
The Cardinal will take the court on Thursday against the winner of Washington State and Cal.
