Syracuse basketball landed Kansas transfer guard Kyle Cuffe on Thursday, which rounds out the Orange's roster for the 2023-24 season. It will be the first under new head coach Adrian Autry. The transfer portal has played a pivotal role in shaping this roster, both with its additions and subtractions. Here is a look at the player movement as well as the roster as it currently stands.

ADDITIONS

G Kyle Cuffe (Kansas transfer)

C Naheem McLeod (Florida State transfer)

C William Patterson (high school recruit)

G JJ Starling (Notre Dame transfer)

G Chance Westry (Auburn transfer

SUBTRACTIONS

F John Bol Ajak (transfer portal)

C Jesse Edwards (transfer to West Virginia)

G Joe Girard (transfer to Clemson)

G Symir Torrence (transfer to Binghamton)

STILL IN LIMBO

G Judah Mintz. Mintz is currently in the NBA Draft process where most expect he will stay, but he has not made an official announcement yet. He could technically return.

CURRENT ROSTER (without Mintz)

Guards

Kyle Cuffe

JJ Starling

Chance Westry

Fowards

Chris Bell

Maliq Brown

Quadir Copeland

Justin Taylor

Benny Williams

Centers

Peter Carey

Mounir Hima

Naheem McLeod

William Patterson

Commentary

Both Justin Taylor and Quadir Copeland can play in the backcourt, but they are listed as forwards based on where they played last year. They certainly provide depth at guard as well. The starting lineup and rotation is still to be determine based on training camp, but I could see Adrian Autry playing nine or ten guys. He says he wants to play fast paced and get out in transition. Running a lot could mean more play in order to keep everyone fresh. It should also be noted that Syracuse would have one more scholarship available assuming Mintz does not return, but I do not expect it will be used for next season.

Here is my best guess (as of now) at the starting lineup and rotation (note I have William Patterson redshirting):

Starters

PG Chance Westry

SG JJ Starling

SF Chris Bell

PF Benny Williams

C Naheem McLeod

Rotational Subs

Guards: Kyle Cuffe, Quadir Copeland

Forwards: Maliq Brown, Quadir Copeland, Justin Taylor

Center: Mounir Hima, Maliq Brown, Peter Carey

Title: Publisher All Syracuse Education: Roberts Wesleyan College Location: Syracuse, New York Expertise: Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting.  EXPERIENCE Mike McAllister has been covering Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting for more than a decade. Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans.  After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years.  Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance. All Syracuse was started from scratch by Mike and the Fan Nation team. It has now become a staple for Orange fans of various sports.  Mike has broken news on recruiting, Syracuse basketball and football team information and has established himself as the top recruiting inside in the market. He has appeared on local radio shows, television broadcasts, national radio shows and much more.
