Syracuse Basketball Officially Kicks Off Practice for the 2023-24 Season
Syracuse football is off to a 4-0 start to the 2023 season, but that will not stop some from looking ahead to the upcoming Orange basketball campaign. Syracuse men's basketball held its first official practice on Monday (you can watch clips provided by Syracuse Athletics in the video above), signaling that the 2023-24 season is not too far away. In fact, there are multiple opportunities to get a look at this year's squad, the first under new head coach Adrian Autry, before the season opener on November 6th.
On October 13th, Syracuse holds Orange Madness in the JMA Wireless Dome. Eight days later, on October 21st, Syracuse will hold a similar event at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial. The events will feature both the men's and women's basketball teams. They usually feature things like a scrimmage, three point shooting contest and a dunk contest.
After that, Syracuse plays in two exhibition games. The first is on October 27th against Daemen University. The second is on November 1st against the College of Saint Rose.
There is a lot of hype surrounding this Syracuse basketball team. With star guard Judah Mintz among the returning contributors along with incoming high profile transfers such as JJ Starling, Chance Westry and Naheem McLeod, the Orange is as talented and deep as it has been in several years on paper. In addition, this will be the first time the head coach is someone other than Jim Boeheim in nearly 50 years.
