Syracuse Rallies From 24 Down to Top Colgate

Syracuse fell behind by as many as 24 to Colgate, but used a furious second half rally to snap a two game losing streak to the Raiders with a 79-75 victory. With the win, the Orange improves to 3-0 on the season. Next up is Tennessee at the Maui Invitational.
The Orange lost to Colgate each of the last two seasons in what was a similar script. Syracuse struggled to score in the half court and Colgate picked apart the Orange defense to get great looks from the outside while shooting at a high clip. The first half followed that almost exactly.
The Raiders took a 16 point lead into halftime while shooting 50% from the floor overall and 53% from three point range with eight made triples. Colgate even dominated Syracuse on the boards to the tune of 25-12. The advantage grew to 24 less than four minutes into the second half before things took a turn.
A 20-4 Orange run brought SU within eight midway through the second half. The run was sparked by the full court press, which turned Colgate over and helped Syracuse get easy looks in transition. In addition, Chris Bell got hot from the outside to help pace the offensive attack.
The lead stayed around eight to 12 points for five or so minutes until the Orange made another push. Syracuse would finish the game on a 17-5 run over the final 3:25 of the game to earn the victory. Colgate was just 1-9 from beyond the arc in the second half.
Chris Bell had a game and career high 25 points including six made three pointers. Judah Mintz added 23 points, eight assists and three steals. JJ Starling rounded out the double figure scorers with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Syracuse forced 19 Colgate turnovers, 14 of which came in the second half, and scored 20 points off of them.
