Syracuse continued its winning streak with a 85-63 victory over Long Island University Thursday night. With the win, Syracuse improves to 4-0 on the season.

It was not an energetic start for the Orange though. Syracuse was down 14-13 at the end of the 1st quarter, but managed to take a 9-point lead and went into halftime up 36-27.

Offense picked up in the second half with the Orange putting up 32 points in the 3rd quarter alone.

Dyaisha Fair put up the most points of the night for ‘Cuse with 22, Asia Strong followed with 15, and Teisha Hyman had 13.

Fair talked about the team’s slow start, saying it was a bit chaotic but they managed to figure it out.

“Our team was a little too high in the beginning, I showed the most composure and poise, and that’s what they look for in me,” said Fair “I have the keys to the car, so if we’re out of control I have to hit the breaks a little and help the team recognize that.”

Cheyenne McEvans played her first game in a Syracuse uniform after playing under Coach Legette-Jack the last 2 years at Buffalo. She banked 6 pts and had 3 rebounds and 4 assists.

“It felt real good getting out there with everybody, seeing how everybody plays and being able to be in it,” said McEvans “Bringing the defense felt real good, so it was just really exciting overall.”

Syracuse went 34-75 from FG range, and had their highest 3-pointer average of the season so far going 5-20. All three points-leaders put in those five total.

Chemistry on the court was strong for the Orange, with the team having 23 assists total

“I think it just shows that we’re able to work together and do work together,” said Fair “The end goal is what the end goal is and it’s always success. So if we continue to do what we’ve been doing and continue to work together, we’ll be something to mess with.”

Syracuse goes on the road to take on Penn State next on Monday at 7:00 PM
