Series History: South Florida leads the all-time series 8-2. Many of those matchups were as Big East foes when Syracuse was in or recovering from the Greg Robinson era. Syracuse football enters the 2023 season looking for back to back bowl games for the first time in a decade and back to back winning regular seasons for the first time in 22 years. The Orange finished the 2022 campaign 7-6 after falling to Minnesota in the Pinstripe Bowl. The offseason has been filled with activity. Syracuse lost several players to the transfer portal and brought in a bunch as well. In addition, the Orange changed both coordinators.

The Orange has started the 2023 campaign 4-0 with a 65-0 win over Colgate, 48-7 triumph over Western Michigan, 35-20 victory at Purdue and 29-16 win over Army. Syracuse suffered its first loss of the season to Clemson in the Dome followed by being blown out at North Carolina, at Florida State and at Virginia Tech. Syracuse then lost to Boston College at home before snapping the losing streak against Pittsburgh. The Orange fell at Georgia Tech which led to Dino Babers being fired before winning the regular season finale against Wake Forest at home.
