Justin Barron Announces Return to Syracuse For 2024 Season
Syracuse football received huge news on Christmas Day as starting safety and team captain Justin Barron announced his will return for the 2024 season.
"Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays," Barron said in a post on social media. "I had high hopes for this season and unfortunately it did not go the way I expected. I refuse to go out like that. I got one more for y'all.
"I'm coming back."
Barron has started every game at safety for the last two seasons and played in every game for the last three. Barron has accumulated 190 tackles with 10.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interceptions and three forced fumbles (all in 2023) the last three seasons. Barron was named a team captain during training camp and played the majority of this past season with an injury that required him to wear a cast when he played.
The news is a huge boost to the Syracuse defense as they transition from the 3-3-5 to a new scheme under new coaching. Fran Brown has created a lot of buzz for the Orange this offseason with big recruiting wins. One of his biggest may be keeping current players including Barron.
Syracuse opens the 2024 season against Ohio in the JMA Wireless Dome on August 31st.
