Oronde Gadsden II Announces Return to Syracuse Football in 2024
Syracuse football got some huge news on Tuesday as Oronde Gadsden announced he will return to the Orange for the 2024 season.
"I came into this season with big goals, but unfortunately this season didn't go as planned," Gadsden wrote in a social media post. "I still have unfinished business.
"After careful consideration and talking to my family and coaches, I've decided to come back for me senior year at Syracuse. I love 'Cuse and what we're building here. I can't wait to get healthy and run it back in the Dome in 2024."
The news comes one day after starting safety Justin Barron announced his return.
Gadsden had a breakout 2022 season. He led the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns as he became the go-to option in the passing game. He recorded 54 catches for 891 yards and six touchdowns on the season. That led to an All ACC selection and being named a Preseason All American entering the 2023 campaign. In one-plus game this season, Gadsden had seven catches for 67 yards and one touchdown.
But on the first play of the game two, Gadsden went down with an injury and was out the rest of the year. It was later revealed to be a lisfranc injury.
The 6-5, 216 pounder signed with Syracuse out of American Heritage High School in Florida in the 2021 recruiting class. He picked the Orange over offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Penn State and West Virginia among many others.
