Syracuse football finished the 2022 season 7-6. After an offseason of considerable change, including turnover at both coordinator positions, the Orange is looking to get to back to back bowl games for the first time in a decade. In addition, a winning record in the regular season would mean accomplishing that feat in back to back season for the first time in 22 years. As head coach Dino Babers enters his eighth season leading Syracuse football, a second straight bowl game would further solidify his status as head coach.

The Orange kicked off the 2023 campaign with a 65-0 win over Colgate and 48-7 triumph over Western Michigan, both in the JMA Wireless Dome. The first road test of the season saw the same result, with SU coming out with a 35-20 win. Syracuse finished the non-conference slate with a 29-16 triumph over Army. The ACC opener is against Clemson in the Dome.
