Syracuse Men's Lacrosse Gets First Ranked Win With Victory at Princeton
Syracuse men's lacrosse picked up its most impressive victory of the season, winning 16-13 at #15 Princeton on Saturday. With the win, the Orange improved to 7-5 on the season and next plays at #10 North Carolina on Saturday, April 15th.
Syracuse led the entire way, starting with a goal just 15 seconds in by Saam Olexo. That sparked an Orange spurt of five of the first six goals through the first half of the first quarter. Syracuse controlled the action the rest of the way except for a minute and a half stretch towards the end of the second quarter.
The Tigers would score three straight in that stretch to trim Syracuse's lead to just one. The Orange, however, would turn to Joey Spallina for a response. Spallina found Michael Leo for a goal to end Princeton's run. One minute later Spallina would find the back of the net himself to push the lead to three at halftime.
Princeton would not get closer than two the rest of the way.
Spallina led Syracuse with nine points on four goals and five assists. Finn Thomson and Cole Kirst would also have hat tricks on the afternoon. Goalie Will Mark was strong in net, saving 17 shots and only allowing four goals in the second half.
