Adrian Autry, Syracuse Staff Hit Recruiting Trail
Syracuse men's basketball hired a new head coach for the first time in 47 years on Wednesday as Jim Boeheim retired and Adrian Autry was promoted. Just days later, the entire Syracuse staff was in attendance for one of its top targets in the 2024 recruiting class Saturday and will see more on Sunday.
The Orange watched 2024 Warminster (PA) Archbishop Wood guard Jalil Bethea's win against CB East.
"I did good tonight," Bethea said. "Not very much of a shooting performance but my defense and passing was great."
Syracuse did not just send one coach but all three including new head coach Adrian Autry as well as assistants Gerry McNamara and Allen Griffin.
"It just means that they really care," Bethea said. "They just wanted to show me that they are still there."
Bethea added that the coaching change does not change anything in his recruitment because he has strong relationships with all of the Orange coaches. He says they remain a school in which he is very interested.
After taking in Bethea's game, the coaches will be in New York City on Sunday to watch 2024 commit Elijah Moore's Cardinal Hayes squad take on 2024 target Boogie Fland's Stepinac team. Moore is considered one of the best shooters in the class and is considered a top 70 prospect. Fland is one of the best players regardless of position and is considered a top 10 player in the 2024 class.
