Syracuse football extended a scholarship offer to 2024 Oklahoma City (OK) Heritage Hall quarterback Andy Bass on Wednesday. It was Bass' first power five opportunity.

"Coach Beck flew out to watch me workout last week and told me he would get on the phone with me after watching some of my game film," Bass said. "I was hype of course."

In addition to Syracuse, Bass has offers from Dartmouth, Navy, Army, UConn, North Texas, Kent State, Air Force and others. Bass is expected to take an official visit this month, but has not finalized a date yet. That should be finalized soon.

Bass, who is listed at 6-0, 200 pounds, is also a track star who lists a 4.42 40 time and 10.56 in the 100 meter. He has been in contact with the Orange for a few weeks prior to receiving the offer.

"Coach Harris actually reached out first a couple weeks ago," Bass said. They are both (Harris and Beck) extremely nice guys and I can tell they are excited."

Offensive coordinator Jason Beck has already compared Bass to a former star of his when he coached at BYU.

"Coach Beck mentioned watching some film on what he wants from me (during the visit)," Bass said. "He expects me to play my freshman year. They're looking at me like a Taysom Hill type of player."

Title: Publisher All Syracuse Education: Roberts Wesleyan College Location: Syracuse, New York Expertise: Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting.  EXPERIENCE Mike McAllister has been covering Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting for more than a decade. Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans.  After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years.  Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance. All Syracuse was started from scratch by Mike and the Fan Nation team. It has now become a staple for Orange fans of various sports.  Mike has broken news on recruiting, Syracuse basketball and football team information and has established himself as the top recruiting inside in the market.
