Blake Belin Excited About Direction of Syracuse Football
Syracuse hosted Bronx (NY) Cardinal Hayes defensive tackle Blake Belin for a visit over the weekend. Belin was originally offered by the Orange under the previous staff but re-offered by Fran Brown's staff. He also holds scholarship opportunities from Duke, Maryland, Minnesota, Wake Forest, West Virginia and others.
"Cuse was great," Belin said. "The coaching staff is amazing and what they're trying to do at Cuse. It was great getting to know them. They just don't want to turn you into a great football player but a great man. They want to help you get to wherever you need to go whether it's the NFL or doing whatever job you want to do. We talked about what the program is becoming. What they want it to be."
What they want it to be is a program with a high standard of winning.
"They want to build the program into something great," Belin said. "Something where there's a high bar and a high standard. That's what they're doing."
The 6-3, 280 pound defensive tackle was also in attendance for Syracuse basketball's thrilling win over Miami on Saturday.
"The fans were amazing and the game was great," Belin said. "We walked off with a buzzer beater three pointer with no time on the clock. I was jumping up in the air because I didn't think he would have enough time to put the shot up."
Belin says the visit only enhanced his view of the Orange.
"It definitely boosted my interest in Syracuse," Belin said. "One hundred percent."
Next up for Belin is a visit to Virginia on the 27th. He is planning to take an official visit to Syracuse at some point, though nothing has been scheduled.
