Syracuse men's basketball finished at 17-15 (10-10) for the 2022-23 season. The offseason kicked into full force immediately after a season ending loss to Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament as it was announced that legendary head coach Jim Boeheim would retire after 47 seasons. In addition, the program announced its next head coach would be longtime assistant Adrian Autry. Autry is still in the top five in assists at Syracuse, was a McDonald's All-American, has extensive coaching experience and played for Boeheim. Autry, during his introductory press conference, indicated that Syracuse would be "versatile" on both ends of the floor in order to give themselves the best chance to win.
