Legacy offensive lineman David Wohlabaugh has committed to Syracuse. Wohlabaugh entered the transfer portal after spending two years at Kentucky and picked the alma mater of his father after an official visit over the weekend.

The 6-6, 321 pound lineman was offered by the Orange last week and he has three years of eligibility remaining. Wohlabaugh played in eight games last season including one start after redshirting for the 2021 campaign.

Wohlabaugh signed with Kentucky in the 2021 recruiting class out of Walsh Jesuit High School in Ohio. He picked the Wildcats over offers from Arizona State, Maryland, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and West Virginia, among many others. He was rated a three star prospect, the 69th best offensive tackle and 24th best player in Ohio by 247Sports. Rivals also rated him as a three star prospect that was the 69th best player at his position, but ranked him 28th best in the state.

Syracuse has been active looking for offensive line help this offseason, adding multiple junior college players and one transfer. Wohlabaugh has the ability to come in and compete right away for a starting spot.

Wohlabaugh's dad, Dave Wohlabaugh, played offensive line for Syracuse from 1992-94. Following a strong collegiate career, Wohlabaugh Sr. was selected in the fourth round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He started Super Bowl XXXI for the Pats during his four year stint with the team. Subsequently, he would sign a seven year, $26.25 million deal with the Cleveland Browns. At the time, it was the richest contract in NFL history for a center. He would play four seasons with the Browns before spending his final season with the St. Louis Rams. In total, Wohlabaugh started 128 games over nine season in the NFL.

Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans.  After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher.
