Deshawn Stewart 'Very Surprised' by Syracuse Offer
Syracuse football recently extended a scholarship offer to class of 2025 defensive back Deshawn Stewart out of DePaul Catholic in New Jersey.
"Coach Camp (Nunzio Campanile) came out and saw me running one on ones against the best of the best in the state, Dez Jones and Elijah Burress," Stewart said. "After, when the team was eating breakfast, we talked a little bit and he said to me, 'we will like to offer you a scholarship.' He then told me he wants to get me up to the campus too. I really like coach Camp too being that his brother is my head coach.
"I was very surprised. I thought I was going to receive it a little bit later in the year, but no. I got it today. I really think I stood out today with my preps and that's what put the icing on the top including my great sophomore film."
Previously, the 6-2 DB says he spoke with coach Campanile approximately two or three months ago, but it just to exchange numbers and provide Syracuse with measurables. Stewart is still learning about the Orange.
"I don't really know anything yet, but I really look forward to getting to know about the education they have to offer," Steward said. "Also meeting the coaching staff, especially the defensive backs coach."
Stewart said he was supposed to visit last month but had a conflict. He is looking forward to getting on campus soon, likely this summer.
