Former Nebraska safety Myles Farmer has transferred to Syracuse as a graduate transfer. He is currently enrolled at the school and has joined the football program. Farmer has two years of eligibility remaining and was the second leading tackler for the Cornhuskers last season with 73. He will join the Orange’s roster for the upcoming 2023 season.

The 6-3, 200 pound defensive back entered the transfer portal in early August after being suspended from Nebraska for violation of team rules. New head coach Matt Rhule said the suspension as due to not doing the little things to meet the program’s standards. It took only a couple of days from there for Farmer to enter the portal. Syracuse moved quickly to add him from that point. In addition to this suspension, Farmer spent seven days on house arrest this past spring after pleading no contest to a DUI charge stemming from an incident in November.

Farmer started 11 games at safety in 2022 and four in 2021. In addition to the 73 tackles last season, which was second on the team, Farmer had four pass breakups, one interception and one tackle for loss. However, Nebraska went through a coaching staff change during the offseason, leading to the hiring of Rhule and former Syracuse defensive coordinator Tony White.

Syracuse has also had some turnover in its secondary. Garrett Williams turned pro and was selected in the NFL Draft this past April. Duce Chestnut and Ja’Had Carter also transferred out. The Orange also brought in transfer defensive backs Jalil Martin, Jayden Bellamy and Jaeden Gould this offseason.

Farmer is a former three star recruit in the 2019 class out of Westlake High School in Georgia. He signed with Nebraska over offers from Louisville, Minnesota, NC State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.
