Justin Denson on Syracuse Offer: 'Deeper Than Football'
Syracuse football extended a scholarship offer to class of 2024 defensive back Justin Denson. Denson also holds offers from Ole Miss, Kansas, Michigan State, Maryland, Purdue and West Virginia, among others. Denson was originally part of the 2023 recruiting class, but reclassified to 2024 and has seen his recruitment take off recently. The Orange offer, though, he says was different.
"Got a text after my life from coach Nunz telling me to give him a call," Denson said. "It went very well. Damn near cried. Deeper than football with that one."
The reason it is deeper than football?
"It means a lot because my mom wanted to go to Cuse for college but never had the opportunity," Denson said.
Denson, who stars for La Salle Academy in Rhode Island, has experience playing wide receiver and defensive back in high school. Syracuse likes him as a defensive back who could play corner and/or safety. In fact, he could transition to the rover position in the Orange's 3-3-5 scheme if he picks Syracuse.
Where does SU stand after the offer? He says they are "up there" in his recruitment right now.
Denson has also visited the school in the past, taking in a game last October. He watched Syracuse blow out Wagner 59-0.
"The Dome was something I've never experienced before," Denson said after the visit. "The Dome and facility was great. I know the players loved to be able to play in that weather all year round. Cuse played a very dominant game. The fans were there and alive all the way til the clock struck zero."
