Recruitment Recap: Jahide Lesaine was a late arrival to the power five recruiting scene. He picked up offers from Syracuse, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh in December. The Orange moved quickly behind new head coach Fran Brown to set up an official visit. That visit sealed the deal and he decided more trips were not necessary. Lesaine announced his commitment shortly after the trip ended.
Evaluation: Jahide Lesaine is a fantastic athlete who plays tight end and defensive end in high school. He projects more as an edge prospect at Syracuse, but his athleticism is on full display on both sides of the ball. Lesaine is a long, explosive athlete who has excellent get off, uses his hands well to keep offensive linemen at bay and has a knack for making plays in the backfield. He definitely needs to get stronger to make an impact in college, but has the frame to do so without losing his twitchiness. A high upside prospect who could be making a big impact in a couple of years.
