Syracuse Basketball Expressing Interest in Temple Transfer Zach Hicks
Syracuse basketball has reached out to Temple transfer forward Zach Hicks, he tells All Syracuse. The 6-7 forward, who started every game for the Owls last season, entered the portal on Monday.
"Coach Gerry Mac," Hicks said. "Basically telling me they need shooting at that forward position and I bring that value to them. Being able to contribute in other ways than shooting too."
Hicks averaged 9.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on 34.8% shooting overall and 35.6% from beyond the arc. The 35.6% is on high volume as well, taking 225 three pointers (making 80) during the year. Over two seasons, Hicks has taken 388 three pointers and made 141 (36.3%). Over 77% of his shot attempts were three-pointers.
Hicks has two years of eligibility remaining after spending the last two seasons at Temple. He has appeared in 60 games during that time, starting 32. He has a reputation as a strong outside shooter.
As a high school prospect, Hicks was a three-star recruit out of Camden Catholic in New Jersey. He signed with Temple as part of the Owls 2021 recruiting class over offers from Drexel, La Salle, Missouri, Richmond and others. Schools like Boston College, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, NC State, Rutgers and Seton Hall expressed interest.
