Syracuse Commit Donnie Freeman Transferring to IMG Academy For Senior Season
Syracuse basketball Donnie Freeman will take the same path as recent incoming Orange recruits by transferring to IMG Academy for his final season of high school ball. Freeman previously played for St. John's College High in Washington (DC).
Current Syracuse players Bennie Williams, Justin Taylor and Quadir Copeland also transferred to IMG Academy for their last high school season prior to enrolling at SU. Freeman continues that recent trend.
Freeman, a 6-9 forward, is rated a four star prospect by all four major recruiting services (247Sports, ESPN, On3 and Rivals). He is ranked a top 35 prospect by 247Sports and On3. During the 2022-23 season at St. John's College High, Freeman averaged 21 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He led St. John's to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) championship. He was also named First Team All WCAC, First Team All DC and First Team All Met.
During AAU ball this summer, Freeman averaged 10.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.9 blocks in just 20 minutes per game during the EYBL regular season while shooting 55% from the floor. He capped that off by leading Team Takeover to the Peach Jam Championship, earning All Peach Jam First Team honors along the way.
