Willy Love Sets Commitment Date
Class of 2024 four star Camden (NJ) Eastside defensive back Willy Love will announce his commitment on Thursday, July 6th at Eastside High School, he tells All Syracuse. Love will decide among his final seven that he released on June 14th. Those seven include Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas A&M and West Virginia.
Love is rated a four star prospect by Rivals and the 247Sports Composite. ESPN and On3 rate Love as a three star prospect. Previously, Love was a four star on ESPN. He is considered one of the best recruits in New Jersey in the 2024 cycle.
Syracuse has been involved with Love throughout his recruitment. However, staff turnover this offseason meant he had to reestablish a relationship with who would be his future position coach should he pick the Orange. That would be safeties coach Darrell Perkins.
""He talked about how he recruits his DBs and why Syracuse has really been quiet ever since the coaching changes," Love said following a seven on seven camp at SU. "It's because he doesn't recruit DBs to play in the secondary unless they have met before or have a bond. I'm glad I got to meet coach Perkins and get a vibe from him. He was impressed by my ability to play corner, outside linebacker and cover the way I do and change directions.
"My interest in Cuse is always high but during the process I see it as it's who is interested in you as well. I hope Syracuse and coach Perkins become major contenders in this process."
Syracuse has been in regular contact with Love since that camp. The hope for the Orange is that is enough to earn his commitment. Rutgers has also been heavily involved with Love throughout his recruitment as have other schools.
