The Texas A&M Aggies are embarking on a new era in College Station as Mike Elko takes over the program with his new staff. One of the focuses this season will be on the new offense, being installed by new offensive coordinator Collin Klein that will hopefully compete with the better defenses in the SEC.

During media availability on Wednesday, Klein was able to discuss the process of installing his new offense this spring.

"I think coming in here this spring we've been very aggressive. We've tried to push the envelope as far as the pace of what we're trying to do and just dive in and get after it. I've been really proud of the guys and how they've embraced that mentality. We're trying to build the foundation for the entire offense and expose them to as many things as we can while being focused on the fundamental details and the skills needed to then make those Xs and Os go.

"That's truly the most important part. It is a balance and now going into the second full week here ... I think we're really going to cover some ground this week to get that familiarity level across the board."

While Klein has had the priveledge of working with some legendary coaches along the way as both a player and a coach, he's quick to credit those who have influenced him most.

"I've been very fortunate to be around some really good ones during my career as a player and now as a coach. Coach Snyder when I played, his influence and him being an offensive minded coach and with the two coordinators, Del Miller and Dana Dimel at that point in time, we had a really good foundation.

"And then going with Coach (Chris) Klieman a little bit, I'm really grateful for him. He turned the game upside down for me, being a defensive guy and then being able to learn and see the game from the other side of the ball."

Klein is bringing in a brand new offense for the Aggies in 2024 - something that was important after a struggling offense doomed Texas A&M in several games last season. After a disappointing 7-6 overall record and an embarrassing 0-4 on the road in SEC play in 2023, Klein and Elko hope the changes they're making will make the Aggies relevant again in the national championship picture.
